You will maintain, repair, and install air conditioning units for diverse clients, ensuring comfort and system reliability. The ideal candidate holds a formal air conditioning and refrigeration qualification with 2–3 years of hands-on experience and strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems and electrical components.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification or certification in air conditioning and refrigeration technology.
• 2–3 years hands-on experience as an air conditioning technician.
• Strong technical knowledge of air conditioning systems, refrigeration cycles and electrical components.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, gauges, thermometers and other specialised equipment.
• Valid driving licence and reliable transportation for attending multiple client locations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair air conditioning and refrigeration systems for residential, commercial and industrial clients.
• Diagnose technical faults and troubleshoot air conditioning equipment using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on air conditioning units to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Conduct inspections of air conditioning systems and provide detailed reports on their condition and any necessary repairs.
• Charge and recover refrigerants in compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
• Replace worn or defective components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators and filters.
• Test air conditioning systems after installation or repair to verify proper operation and efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, including parts used and time spent on each job.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergency repairs whilst maintaining professional customer service standards.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations whilst working at various client locations.

What we’re looking for

• Formal qualification or certification in air conditioning and refrigeration technology from a recognised institution
• Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience as an air conditioning technician in the trades and services industry
• Strong technical knowledge of air conditioning systems, refrigeration cycles and electrical components
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, gauges, thermometers and other specialised equipment
• Valid driving licence and reliable transportation for attending multiple client locations
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail when diagnosing and repairing complex systems
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to customers in clear, understandable terms
• Physical fitness and ability to work at heights or in confined spaces when necessary
• Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations relevant to refrigerant handling and air conditioning work
• Willingness to undertake ongoing training and stay updated with industry advancements and new technologies
