Job summary

Wesley Methodist School Penang (International) in Jelutong, Penang, seeks an Accounts Officer – Accounts Receivable to manage student accounts receivable, invoicing, aging, and collections. You will interact with parents and internal teams to ensure accurate fee processing in line with school policies.

The role requires a diploma/degree in finance or related fields, at least 3 years’ experience, and strong Excel/Word skills.

Qualifications

• Possess minimum Diploma / Advanced / Higher / Graduate Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accountancy or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in accounts receivable or a related finance function.
• Hands-on experience in e-invoicing.
• Excellent command of English, spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable in accordance with policies, procedures and approved guidelines, including the processing of e-invoices.
• Monitor student accounts and aging, follow up on overdue fees, maintain records of collection activities, and escalate issues to the Finance Manager.
• Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, internal departments and other stakeholders on accounts receivable and student fee-related matters by phone, message, email and in person.
• Present fee adjustments, credit notes, refunds and other account adjustments to the Finance Manager, in accordance with school policies and approval requirements.
• Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal vouchers, aging reports, and reconciliations for management review and audit.
• Perform regular banking and submit related reports and supporting documents accurately and on time.
• Assist with ad-hoc finance and office support tasks as assigned.
