Vallen Asia is seeking an Accounts Payable Team Lead to guide the AP function across Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. You will oversee invoice processing, payments, and month-end close while ensuring compliance with internal controls and policies.

The role requires strong leadership, currency handling experience, and a proactive approach to process improvements. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors, drive efficiencies, and support audits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop Accounts Payable team; allocate work and monitor workload.
  • Escalate complex AP issues; handle vendor disputes and internal queries.
  • Prepare cash outflow analysis and manage cash flows; support hedging considerations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, approval matrices and policies.
  • Support month-end close and audit requests; respond to audit queries.
  • Oversee end-to-end AP processing including invoices, payments, and postings.
  • Coordinate AP month-end close activities; manage accruals and reconciliations.
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements; document procedures.

Are you passionate about ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures and other appropriate laws, regulations, and directives when executing financial responsibilities?

The Accounts Payable Team Lead is responsible for leading the day‑to‑day AP operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments, compliance with company policies, and continuous improvement of AP processes. This role acts as the key point of contact between the AP team, internal stakeholders, and external vendors, while also supporting month‑end close and audit activities.

What will you deliver?

Operational Leadership

Lead, coach, and develop the Accounts Payable team and allocate work, monitor workload, and ensure timely invoice processing and payment runs

Act as escalation point for complex AP issues, vendor disputes, and internal queries

Prepare cash outflow analysis to ensure smooth operations

Ensure compliance to internal controls, approval matrices and accounting policies.

Identify control gaps, drive remediation action and support audit requirement by responding to audit queries

Manage current and forecast cash inflows and outflows to fund operations. Use hedging and netting strategies to reduce risk related to change in asset values, interest rates and foreign currency holdings. Determine when additional cash is needed.

Accounts Payable Processing

Oversee end‑to‑end AP processes including invoice receipt, validation, posting, and payment

Ensure accurate processing of Advance payment, PO and non‑PO invoices in accordance with company policies.

Review and approve invoices, payment proposals, and manual journal entries within approval limits

End of Month Reporting

Coordinate AP month‑end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and cut‑off procedures

Review and prepare AP balance sheet reconciliations and ageing reports

Provide timely AP reporting and insights to Finance Managers and stakeholders

Process improvement

Drive continuous process improvements, standardization, and efficiency initiatives with cross collaboration across department to drive improvements.

Support system enhancements, automation, and AP‑related projects

Document AP procedures and ensure knowledge sharing within the team

Key Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline

Minimum 3 years account payables experience with at least 2-3 years senior or lead role

Technical skills of Accounts Payable integrated systems and processes

Experience working with multiple currencies

Strong analytical, project management, process improvement skills, and proficiency in spreadsheet.

Ability to manage ambiguity and apply problem-solving skills

Excellent communication skills; work well both independently and in a team environment

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and work effectively under deadlines

Hands on and excellent attention to details
