Hakshan is seeking an accurate and detail-oriented Accountant to maintain the general ledger, prepare financial statements, and support daily accounting operations in Kuala Lumpur. You will help ensure timely reporting, implement internal controls, and assist with tax compliance and audits.
The ideal candidate has a diploma or degree in accounting/finance, 2+ years of experience, and proficiency in Excel and accounting software to manage journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting timelines.
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to maintain accurate financial records,prepare financial reports, and support the company’s day-to-day accounting operations.The successful candidate will help ensure timely financial reporting, effective internal controls, and compliance with applicable accounting and tax requirements.
Accounting records. Maintain the general ledger and record financial transactions accurately. Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and supporting schedules.
Accounts payable and receivable. Verify supplier invoices and prepare payment schedules for approval. Issue customer invoices, monitor outstanding balances, and follow up on overdue payments.
Reconciliations. Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements, customer balances, and other balance sheet accounts. Investigate discrepancies and arrange timely corrections.
Financial reporting. Complete month-end and year-end closing activities within agreed deadlines. Prepare profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for management review.
Budgeting and cash flow. Assist with budgets and forecasts. Monitor cash requirements and explain significant differences between actual results and budget.
Tax and audit support. Prepare supporting schedules for applicable tax filings and statutory reporting. Liaise with external auditors and tax advisers, and provide complete records when requested.
Assets and inventory. Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate depreciation. Where applicable, work with the warehouse team to reconcile inventory records and investigate stock variances.
Controls and confidentiality. Follow approval procedures, retain supporting documents, and protect confidential financial information. Recommend practical improvements to accounting processes.
A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent professional qualification, is required. At least two years of relevant accounting experience is preferred. A recognised accounting certification, or progress towards one, is an advantage.
Candidates should understand double-entry bookkeeping, financial reporting, and relevant local tax requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software is required; experience with [company accounting system] is an advantage.
