M&M Project Builder Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an Accountant in Johor Bahru to maintain financial records, prepare statements, and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

You will play a key role in delivering accurate financial information to support decision-making in the construction and project development sector. The role requires 2–3 years of experience, proficiency in Excel and accounting software, and a strong grasp of Malaysian tax rules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; professional qualification preferred.
• ACCA/CPA or Malaysia accounting qualifications considered an advantage.
• 2–3 years of experience in financial accounting or AR/AP.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting software; knowledge of tax rules.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain financial records including AP/AR and GL entries.
• Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts monthly.
• Process invoices, POs and expense reports according to policies.
• Assist in monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements and reports.
• Ensure GAAP/compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Support audit processes with documentation and explanations.
• Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and variances.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
• Support finance team with ad-hoc projects as required.

About the role

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Accountant to join the finance team at M&M Project Builder Sdn. Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Johor Bahru, Johor. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. As an Accountant, you will be instrumental in providing financial insights that support the strategic decision-making of our organisation and contribute to our continued growth and success in the construction and project development industry.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries


• Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts on a monthly basis


• Process invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports in accordance with company policies and procedures


• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports


• Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant accounting standards


• Support the audit process by providing documentation and explanations of financial records


• Monitor and analyse financial data to identify discrepancies, errors, or irregularities


• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities


• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information and comply with data protection regulations


• Support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and assignments as required

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional qualification


• Professional certification such as ACCA, ICAEW, CPA, or local Malaysian accounting qualifications (e.g., CA Malaysia) is highly desirable


• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in financial accounting, accounts receivable/payable, or a similar accounting role


• Proficiency in accounting software packages such as QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems


• Strong knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations and financial reporting requirements


• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications


• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously


• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Malay


• Integrity, reliability, and the ability to maintain confidentiality


• Knowledge of project accounting or construction accounting is considered an advantage
