Job summary

Kumpulan BTC Berhad is seeking an Account Officer to join our Account & Finance Department in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. You will ensure accurate financial accounting and timely reporting while supporting reconciliations, ledgers and compliance.

The role requires a Diploma or Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance and 2–4 years of related experience, with strong Excel skills and knowledge of accounting software. You will assist in preparing financial statements and supporting audits.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in financial accounting or accounts payable/receivable.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards and other balance sheet items.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoice verification and payment processing.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports.
• Support the audit process by providing necessary documentation and reconciliations to internal and external auditors.
• Monitor and record fixed asset transactions, including capitalisation and depreciation calculations.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements relevant to the organisation.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records and transactions.
• Maintain accurate and organised accounting records and documentation.
• Support the finance team with ad hoc accounting projects and analysis as required.

About the role

Kumpulan BTC Berhad is seeking an Account Officer to join our Account & Finance Department. This is a full-time position based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. As an Account Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting processes. You will support the finance team in maintaining comprehensive financial records, reconciliations and compliance with accounting standards. This position is integral to the financial health and transparency of our organisation, ensuring that all accounting operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• 2-4 years of experience in financial accounting, accounts payable/receivable or a similar accounting role
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to work efficiently with financial data
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and inconsistencies in financial records
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Knowledge of bank reconciliation, journal entries and financial statement preparation
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across departments
• Competency in data management and maintaining confidentiality of financial information
• Professional attitude with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement
