Job summary

The Big G in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah is seeking an experienced Account Executive to manage client accounts, prepare financial statements, and ensure accurate bookkeeping. You will serve as the primary contact for clients and collaborate with internal teams to deliver compliant, timely financial services.

Ideal candidates hold ACCA/AAT or equivalent, have 2–3+ years in bookkeeping or client account management, and are proficient in SQL Accounting and MS Excel.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts and build lasting relationships.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements, trial balances and reconciliations.
• Proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel; strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial clients.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Account Executive to join The Big G in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in managing client accounts and delivering exceptional financial services. As an Account Executive, you will be the primary point of contact for our clients, ensuring their accounting and bookkeeping needs are met with precision and professionalism. This role is fundamental to our business growth and client satisfaction, bridging the gap between our clients and our accounting operations.

What you'll be doing

• Managing a portfolio of client accounts and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with clients
• Preparing and reviewing financial statements, trial balances and reconciliation reports
• Processing invoices, expenses and other bookkeeping transactions accurately and timely
• Liaising with clients to gather financial information and clarify accounting requirements
• Identifying opportunities to expand services and generate additional revenue from existing clients
• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements for all client accounts
• Resolving client queries and concerns in a professional and efficient manner
• Maintaining detailed records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes
• Collaborating with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery
• Preparing monthly or quarterly reports and presenting findings to clients

What we're looking for

• A professional qualification in Accounting or Finance (such as ACCA, AAT, or equivalent local qualification)
• At least 2-3 years of experience in bookkeeping, small practice accounting or client account management
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, financial statement preparation and reconciliation procedures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial clients
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial work
• The ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously whilst meeting strict deadlines
• Proactive approach to identifying client needs and suggesting solutions
• Understanding of local tax regulations and compliance requirements in Malaysia
• Willingness to keep abreast of changes in accounting standards and best practices
• At least 1–2 years of experience using SQL Accounting Software.
