Job summary

Food Journal Sdn Bhd is seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant to manage day‑to‑day accounting transactions and ensure compliance with approved standards. You will handle full sets of accounts, including fixed assets, receivables, payables, general ledger and bank reconciliation.

The role covers monthly closing, generation of management reports, orderly filing, timely payables and cash controls, as well as liaising with auditors and tax agents.

Qualifications

• Qualified with a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Excel, with strong financial reporting knowledge.
• Attention to details, accuracy, good communication skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting transactions in accordance with approved standards.
• Handle full sets of accounts including fixed assets, receivables, payables, GL and bank reconciliation.
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Monthly closing of accounts and generation of management reports.
• Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
• Ensure accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.
• Monitor cash related functions and liaise with auditors & tax agents.
• Carry out other duties as requested by supervisor/GM.

Job description

Managing day-to-day accounting transactions in accordance with approved accounting standards.

Handle full sets of account, including fixed asset listing, receivables, payables, general ledger and bank reconciliation.

Handle account reconciliation and resolve discrepancy.

Monthly closing of accounts and generation of management reports.

Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.

Ensure that accounts payable is paid in a timely manner.

Manage and monitor on all cash related functions within the Company.

Liaise with auditors & tax agents on audit & tax matters.

Any other duties and responsibilities as and when requested by the superior / General Manager.

Position Requirement

Qualification Minimum bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in account roles.

Skill / Competencies:

Proficiency in accounting software (SQL) and Microsoft excel

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting

Attention to details, accuracy, good communication skills and able to work independently.
