Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend tools and services that support operations workflows, including issue triage, order/policy remediation, and RCA automation.
- Build internal dashboards, monitoring frameworks, and alerting systems to provide visibility into operational health and KPIs.
- Take ownership of software applications, APIs, and services crucial for our data platform's seamless operation.
- Design microservices and serverless applications supporting the entire data lifecycle, from data ingestion to customer impact.
- Drive engineering best practices within the team and organization, fostering collaboration and adoption of clinical data products.
- Leverage AWS services (such as Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, etc.) to build tools and automation that enhance system monitoring, visibility, and operational effectiveness.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident reviews, helping to improve system reliability and operational response.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Support, Product, and Engineering to understand business pain points, provide feedback, and help drive improvements across the product and operational workflows.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to code quality through code reviews and design discussions.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in backend software development using Node.js or similar technology.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, etc.)
- Ability to initiate impact with minimal high-level direction.
- Proficiency in node.js, Python, or other modern programming languages with a focus on backend development
- Familiarity with software development best practices: testing, version control, CI/CD.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on production reliability and operational effectiveness.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in enterprise software, especially within insurance, finance, or regulated industries.
- Exposure to monitoring/observability tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, or Grafana.
- Understanding SLAs, incident response processes, and operational playbooks.
- Comfortable working in environments with legacy systems and modern cloud-based services.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (JavaScript, Python, Bash) and SQL for operational automation.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
