Job summary

CIMMYT - International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center seeks a Grant Portfolio & Stewardship Manager to lead donor-funded awards and improve delivery, risk management and donor engagement.

The role focuses on turning commitments into results, building a high-performing, data-driven grant management capability, and collaborating across Programs, Finance, Legal and IT to strengthen CIMMYT’s partnerships.

Qualifications

• Significant progressive experience in grant management, award management and donor compliance.
• Experience managing complex institutional awards and donor requirements.
• Experience supervising staff and building team capability.
• Strong understanding of donor contracts, audits and risk escalation.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams (Programs, Finance, Legal, IT).
• Evidence of improving processes, dashboards, CRM workflows and automation.
• Excellent written and spoken English; Spanish valuable for Mexico-based role.

Responsibilities

• Own CIMMYT's active post-award grant portfolio visibility, milestones and renewal risks.
• Maintain a portfolio health framework across delivery, reporting, compliance and subgrants.
• Track milestones, reports, amendments, extensions and audits with clear ownership.
• Provide dashboards and alerts to support prioritization and risk mitigation.
• Lead regular portfolio reviews with Grant Management, Programs, Finance and others.
• Lead the Grant Management team; set objectives and allocate workloads.
• Strengthen advisory capacity in donor requirements, risk, and donor intelligence.
