Warner Bros. Discovery, based in Mexico City, seeks a Staff Accountant, HBO Max Content to join the Streaming Accounting Controllership team.

You will own month-end close processes for content accounts, ensure US GAAP compliance, and support external audits and financial reporting for the streaming segment. The role collaborates with Business Affairs, Finance, Legal, Operations and Tax, requires strong Excel and English communication, and a detail-oriented mindset to maintain accurate records

Formación

• BS/BA in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
• Knowledge of US GAAP.
• Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley and SOX controls.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for content related accounts.
• Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual SEC schedules.
• Execute month end processes to settle and amortize content costs.
• Assist in creating SAP project records for new titles and review documentation.
• Provide support for audit requests (internal & external).
• Maintain SOX compliance and work with Financial Compliance on control evaluations.
• Utilize SAP S4 HANA and Blackline for accurate reporting and analysis.
• Support ad hoc analyses and ensure timely, accurate completion of tasks.

Your New Role…

TheStaff Accountant, HBO Max Content will be a member of the Streaming Accounting Controllership team based in Mexico City, Mexico. The Accounting Controllership Team is responsible for monthly and quarterly US GAAP reporting, review of account reconciliations and support for global financial reporting processes. Everyday responsibilities include ensuring compliance during audits, as well as with SEC and SOX guidelines. The Team closely collaborates with other relevant stakeholders, including Business Affairs, Finance, Legal, Operations, Tax, as well as external service providers. The Staff Accountant, HBO Max Content is essential in supporting the Streaming Segment Content Accounting for HBO Max. This individual will be responsible for month-end and quarterly activities related to the content lifecycle. This role is critical to ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial records and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies.

Your Role Accountabilities:

• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for content related accounts
• Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual SEC schedules, including development passes and restructuring as needed
• Execute month end systems processes to settle and amortize content costs
• Assist in the creation of SAP projects records for new titles upon greenlight decisions, reviewing supporting documentation and ensuring proper attributes assigned to each project
• Provide support for audit requests, both internal and external
• Maintain compliance with the SOX control framework and partner with Financial Compliance regularly to aid in the evaluation of our control environment
• Utilize SAP S4 HANA and Blackline to ensure accurate reporting of streaming content and perform account analysis
• Support business and department initiatives and prepare ad hoc analyses as needed
• Complete all work in a timely and accurate manner within established deadlines

Qualifications & Experience…

• BS/BA in Accounting from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of US GAAP
• Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley and experience with SOX controls
• Strong understanding of financial systems with ability to learn and master new system tools
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines while balancing competing deliverables
• Strong Excel skills
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional team members at all levels
• Willingness to learn and accept new or unfamiliar tasks

Preferences…

• Big 4 accounting firm experience or experience at a publicly traded company
• Film and media / entertainment accounting experience
• Strong business acumen working in a multinational company
• SAP S/4 HANA knowledge is a plus
• Experience with Blackline is a plus

• Experience in automating manual processes
• Active CPA license or local equivalent, or a path towards license attainment
