OBJECTIVE
- Develops and implements methods and procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection to ensure that the products are free of flaws and function as designed.
- Designs and installs sophisticated testing equipment and performs product testing and analysis to maintain quality levels and minimize defects and failure rates.
- Analyzes reports and defective products to determine trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborates with supplier representatives on quality problems, ensures that effective corrective actions are implemented and contributes to supplier quality improvement programs.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
The Sr. Quality Engineer will work on complex and innovative projects to reduce internal and external quality issues. Will provide technical support to define inspections techniques, test procedures, equipment development and training. Will prepare quality documentation such as control plans, FMEAs, inspections plans and test procedures.
- Coordinates, administers and performs the quality function of an engineering and technical nature to ensure product quality and reliability at minimum quality costs.
- Prepare quality documentation such as control plans, PFMEAs, inspection plans, test procedures.
- Diagnose quality problems (field, vendor’s site and manufacturing plant), develop solutions, and monitor corrective action implementation and effectiveness.
- Participate in new product development (NPD) to ensure all customer requirements are met and the manufacturing process is robust.
- Oversee NPD builds to ensure process controls are in place and effective.
- Completion and documentation of all phases of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
- Prepare and submit all necessary PPAP documentation per AIAG guidelines.
- Lead and/or participate in supplier audits and qualification process.
- Manage and develop quality personnel.
- Train Quality and Production personnel in Quality requirements relating to specific programs.
- Develop testing methodologies and equipment including precision computerized measuring devices and statistical control techniques.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of quality experience role.
- 3 years in an engineering role.
- Skilled in project management.
- Experienced with incoming inspection and supplier interaction.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Knowledge of Pareto analysis techniques, Gage R&R, Control Plans and FMEA.
- Experience in new product introduction process.
