Job summary

ABB is looking for a procurement professional to manage direct material purchasing for the Electrification Distribution Solutions division in San Luis Potosi. You will issue POs, negotiate with suppliers, and coordinate with category teams to ensure timely deliveries and optimal costs.

The role requires strong SAP skills, English proficiency, and experience with cross-functional teams to monitor KPIs and mitigate production risks. This onsite position reports to the Procurement Team Lead.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field.
• 5+ years of experience purchasing direct materials (metal mechanics and electrical).
• Proficient in SAP and ERP systems.
• Experience negotiating with international suppliers.
• Knowledge of RCA or Lean tools.
• Advanced English language skills.

Responsibilities

• Initiate Purchase Orders in the system according to requisitions and standard procedures; confirm delivery with suppliers and monitor performance.
• Negotiate agreements with main suppliers and periodically renew price lists and terms and conditions.
• Recommend material planning and delivery methods with suppliers.
• Analyze and evaluate bids to determine the best value for the company.
• Participate in weekly cross-functional meetings to review KPIs and root cause analysis.
• Support and coach junior buyers in activities related to critical materials to prevent production risks.

This position reports to: Procurement Team Lead

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. Each day, you will ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. You will also demonstrate your skill by identifying new suppliers in collaboration with the relevant category team.

This role is contributing to the Electrification Distribution Solutions division in San Luis Potosi.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Initiating Purchase Orders in the system, according to the purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures, and confirming delivery with suppliers, monitoring, and tracking supplier performance to PO requirements.
• Negotiating agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renews price lists and terms and conditions.
• Recommending material planning and delivery methods with suppliers.
• Analyzing and evaluating bids to determine the optimal value.
• Participating in weekly meetings with multidisciplinary teams within business to show KPIs and RCA.
• Supporting and coaching Jr buyers in activities related to critical materials to prevent risks in production line.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelors Degree Industrial or Similar Engineering.
• 5+ Years experience in Purchasing direct materials (Metal mechanics and electrical).
• Skilled in SAP.
• Negotiation experience with international suppliers.
