Job summary

HSBC in Mexico seeks an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to ensure technology platforms are stable, secure and highly available. You will own services end to end, drive automation, and promote DevSecOps practices across teams.

The role emphasizes incident prevention and recovery, capacity planning and continuous improvement, operating in a hybrid model with development and production support responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Site Reliability Engineer and DevOps.
• Experience in programming, CI/CD, Production Support, Cloud Technologies, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Github, Splunk, Datadog, AppDynamics, infrastructure and troubleshooting.
• Operational mindset with ownership of production services and resilience.
• Bias towards action and evidence-based decision making.
• Strong collaboration and cross-team coordination.
• Technical leadership and communication during incidents and improvements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain service reliability, meeting availability, performance and recovery objectives.
• Prevent and resolve incidents, identify root causes and implement permanent improvements.
• Automate build, testing and deployment processes to reduce manual errors and differ between environments.
• Prepare infrastructure for growth, considering capacity, workload, performance, security and resilience.
• Reduce TOIL through continuous improvement and automation.
• Own services end to end, from development through to production support.
• Promote Agile, DevSecOps and continuous delivery practices with small, low-risk changes.
• Lead post-incident reviews (PIRs), continuity exercises and disaster-recovery activities.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to other teams for reusable solutions.

Site Reliability Engineer

Ensure that HSBC’s technology platforms and services are stable, resilient, secure, scalable and highly available, both during normal operations and when incidents or disruptions occur.

Main activities:

• Maintain service reliability, meeting availability, performance and recovery objectives.
• Prevent and resolve incidents, identify root causes and implement permanent improvements.
• Automate build, testing and deployment processes to reduce manual errors and differences between environments.
• Prepare infrastructure for growth, considering capacity, workload, performance, security and resilience.
• Reduce technical debt and repetitive operational work (TOIL) through continuous improvement and automation.
• Own services end to end, from development through to production support.
• Promote Agile, DevSecOps and continuous delivery practices, using small, frequent and low-risk changes.
• Lead post-incident reviews (PIRs), continuity exercises and disaster-recovery activities, ensuring that lessons learned are applied.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to other teams, helping them adopt reusable and effective solutions.

Requirements

• Experience as a Site Reliability Engineer and Devops
• Experience in programming, CI/CD, Production Support, Cloud Technologies, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Github, Splunk, Data dog, App Dinamycs, infrastructure and troubleshooting)
• An operational mindset, taking ownership of production services and prioritising resilience.
• A bias towards action, making evidence-based decisions and delivering them to completion.
• Strong collaboration skills, working beyond your own specialism and focusing on the best outcome for the team.
• Technical leadership and communication skills, coordinating incidents, explaining solutions and driving improvements across teams.
