Descripción de la vacante

Amphenol TCS de México, S.A. de C.V. is seeking a Signal Integrity Test Engineer to own the development and sustainment of high-speed SI test systems for cable assemblies and interconnect products, focusing on BER performance and PRBS-based stress testing.

You will collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to define robust test methods, perform empirical evaluations, and drive calibration and maintenance programs for test assets while supporting global deployments.

Formación

  • Must have 3+ years of experience developing, validating, or sustaining high-speed SI test solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of SI principles (insertion loss, return loss, crosstalk, impedance, jitter).
  • Hands-on with BERT systems, pattern generators, and error detectors; familiarity with PRBS patterns and BER testing.

Responsabilidades

  • Define robust production test methods, limits, calibration requirements, correlation plans, and acceptance criteria for VNA, TDR, BERT, and oscilloscope-based measurements.
  • Perform empirical SI evaluations of cables, connectors, and interconnect assemblies; correlate production measurements with customer data and reference equipment.
  • Provide expert troubleshooting for electrical and signal-integrity issues; diagnose pattern-lock failures and lane-specific errors.
  • Establish preventive maintenance, calibration, verification, and spare-parts programs for SI test assets; anticipate obsolescence and capacity needs.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering and Quality to improve FPY, RTY, scrap, retest rate, downtime, and test escape performance.

Descripción del empleo

The Signal Integrity Test Engineer is responsible for working in collaboration with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to own the development, deployment, and sustaining support of high-speed signal integrity test systems for cable assemblies and interconnect products — with particular emphasis on bit-error-rate performance and PRBS-based stress testing.

Responsibilities:
  • Define robust production test methods, limits, calibration requirements, correlation plans, and acceptance criteria for VNA, TDR, BERT, and oscilloscope-based measurements.
  • Perform empirical signal integrity evaluations of cables, connectors, and interconnect assemblies, correlating production measurements with customer data and reference equipment to ensure repeatable and defensible test outcomes.
  • Provide expert troubleshooting for electrical and signal-integrity issues, diagnosing pattern-lock failures, loss of signal, lane-specific errors, jitter sensitivity, crosstalk, insertion-loss impacts, fixture degradation, and correlation gaps between test platforms.
  • Establish preventive maintenance, calibration, verification, and spare-parts programs for SI test assets; anticipate obsolescence and capacity needs and provide technical inputs for capital planning.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering and Quality to improve FPY, RTY, scrap, retest rate, downtime, and test escape performance, analyzing BER by lane, data rate, pattern, fixture, and tester to optimize screening limits.
  • Create and maintain test specifications, work instructions, validation reports, correlation studies, equipment standards, and change-control records; train technicians and engineers on standardized test practices.
  • Support new product introductions, pilot builds, equipment installations, process validations, customer investigations, and global manufacturing-site deployments.
  • Prepare status reports and present test performance updates to leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience developing, validating, or sustaining high-speed signal integrity test solutions for cable assemblies, connectors, backplanes, or related interconnect products. MUST
  • Strong knowledge of signal integrity principles, including insertion loss, return loss, crosstalk, impedance, skew, eye diagrams, jitter, equalization, and bit-error-rate performance.
  • Hands-on experience with BERT systems, pattern generators, error detectors, loopback configurations, and high-speed fixtures; must understand PRBS patterns, pattern lock, BER calculation, zero-error confidence testing, and interpretation of random, burst, and lane-specific errors.
  • Experience with BERT platforms such as Keysight, Anritsu, Tektronix, or equivalent is preferred; familiarity with PAM4 and NRZ signaling, bathtub curves, eye-mask testing, and test-automation scripting is a strong plus.
  • Working knowledge of high-volume cable assembly manufacturing and quality tools such as MSA, GR&R, SPC, FMEA, 8D, and Pareto analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; equipment-control software, databases, Power BI, and MES are a plus.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on yield improvement and test escape prevention.
  • Strong analytical, project-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced English and excellent communication skills in Spanish and English.
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.
