Sovos in Mexico is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, implement, and optimize enterprise infrastructure powering our global tax compliance platform. This hands-on role requires collaboration across teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions that meet business needs and regulatory requirements.

You will mentor juniors and contribute to documentation, architecture reviews, and operational best practices while leveraging automation and AI tools to improve efficiency and reliability.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related IT field
• English communication skills are essential
• Strong server design, virtualization, storage, and backup experience
• Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure in production, incl. SaaS and multi-tier apps
• Solid networking knowledge including NSX and routing/firewall concepts
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues and document findings
• Comfort with AI-assisted workflows and willingness to explore new tools

Responsabilidades

• Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve complex server and infra issues for platform stability
• Design, implement, and support architectures including UCS Blade, Domain Controllers, Pure Storage, F5, NSX, Rubrik, monitoring
• Support automation and deployment using Terraform, Puppet, Python, Jenkins, and Automox
• Collaborate across teams to deliver end-to-end tech solutions aligned with business needs
• Create and maintain design docs, HA diagrams, capacity models, network/storage layouts, DR plans
• Participate in design reviews, planning, and change management (Jira Service Management)
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge and standards

The Role

At Sovos, we're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to help us design, implement, and optimize the enterprise systems and infrastructure that power our global tax compliance platform. You'll be a key technical contributor, working across teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure solutions that support both our business and our customers. This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise and mentorship will directly shape how we build and run systems at scale.

More specifically, you will:

• Perform triage, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex server and infrastructure-related issues, ensuring platform stability and responsiveness.
• Design, implement, and support system architectures including UCS Blade Server virtualization, Domain Controllers, Pure Storage, F5 Load Balancers, NSX virtual networking, Rubrik backup, and monitoring tools such as Nagios and Grafana.
• Support automation and deployment efforts using tools such as Terraform, Puppet, Python, Jenkins, and Automox, and leverage AI tools to improve workflows and efficiency.
• Collaborate with architecture, engineering, product, database, and operations teams to deliver end-to-end technical solutions that align with business requirements and operational best practices.
• Create and maintain technical and operational documentation, including low-level design documents, high-availability diagrams, capacity models, network diagrams, storage layouts, disaster recovery plans, and troubleshooting guides.
• Participate in design reviews, planning sessions, and change management activities using tools like Jira Service Management.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing, technical standards, and the continuous improvement of platform reliability and performance.

What You Bring to Sovos

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related Information Technology field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong English communication skills.
• You've built solid systems engineering experience over several years, with strong skills in server design, virtualization, storage, and backup solutions.
• Hands-on experience supporting enterprise infrastructure in production environments, including familiarity with SaaS platforms and multi-tier application architectures.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts including routing, firewalling, ACLs, and virtual networking (e.g., NSX).
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues with strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a detail-oriented approach and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Comfort with AI-assisted workflows and a willingness to explore emerging tools that enhance productivity and system reliability.
• Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire.
