The Senior Substation Primary Engineer (Primary Engineering AIS) is responsible for the Primary engineering design activities required for high voltage substation projects, including conceptual design and detailed engineering deliverables. Likewise, work collaboratively with the sales/bidding department to propose technical solutions tailored to customer needs during the offer phase. This position will offer the ability to directly apply candidate’s knowledge of electrical engineering in substation and transmission projects.

The Senior Substation Primary Enginee should combine technical and soft skills to lead complex projects, coach younger engineers and to deploy best practices related HV substation design.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Lead the engineering and design of greenfield and brownfield AIS HV substations. Contribute with the technical growth of the team by coaching younger engineers among the design of complex HV Substation projects.
• Capable to complete Grounding design, Lightning design, Cable Sizing, Battery Sizing, Illumination system design, Sag Tension calculation, Short Circuit Force and Bus- bar Sizing. Preparation of all Project related HV Equipment Specifications/selections and Sizing as per IEEE/IEC
• Preparation of basic Single Line Diagram, general arrangement, Layout Plan & Section of Overall plant, Equipment control room, equipment erection dwgs, Grounding Layout/details , Trench Layout etc.
• Review and approve manufacturer’s documentation. Main equipment’s selection (Power transformers, Breakers, Disconnectors, VT/TPs, etc.) Evaluation of vendor Shop Drawings, Calculation & Technical Specs

What You Bring (requirements)

• Electrical or Electromechanical Engineer and 8+ years of experience in high voltage substation design (utility, EPC, or consulting environment)
• Experience on creating detailed engineering, primary equipment selection, safety considerations, construction process and international standards used to design and built HV Substations. Proficient with Auto-CAD, Micro-station or Revit.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical requirements and business needs.
• Know-how of IEEE / IEC codes, safety in design/EHS aspects, AC substation industry engineering practices.
• Strong Communication skills & capability to lead project independently along with Client handling.
• Willingness to travel 10% of the time.
• English is needed.
