Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform, including APIs, resilience mechanisms, and AI-facing integrations.

You will design contract-first interfaces, implement the correlation layer for ITSM actions, and ensure exactly-once processing across distributed systems. The team embraces GenAI-assisted development, CI/CD, and modern architectures.

Qualifications

• Must have 4+ years of production Python experience with typed, tested services and APIs.
• Strong grasp of event-driven and asynchronous architecture, including messaging and durable logs.
• REST API design and OpenAPI experience; familiarity with AsyncAPI contracts.
• Experience with Kafka or equivalent streaming platform.
• GenAI-assisted development and fluent use of AI coding agents.
• Testing discipline (pytest, contract testing), CI/CD, Linux, Git and containers.
• Ability to reason about trade-offs in distributed systems (consistency vs availability).
• Desire to continuously learn and evaluate new tools.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve a Python service handling event taxonomy and durable replayable logs.
• Design and maintain contract-first interfaces using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
• Create the correlation layer that turns signals into ITSM actions and ensure exactly-once application.
• Develop resilience mechanisms to keep services usable during upstream platform degradation.
• Support multiple access patterns over an async core (fire-and-forget, poll, webhooks).
• Develop event type registry and self-service onboarding for teams.
• Build GenAI-facing integration surfaces for safe AI agent consumption.
• Modernise legacy integrations with managed deprecation paths without disrupting consumers.
• Own quality end-to-end: code reviews, testing, observability, production support.
• Engage with customers and teams to understand requirements and guide architecture decisions.
