Job summary

Sezzle is seeking a Senior Payments Engineer to own and scale the core payments stack, connecting with processors and gateways, moving funds, and ensuring accurate, auditable transactions. You will design backend services in Golang and drive end-to-end money movement from authorization to settlement.

With 8+ years in backend/fintech, you will lead critical flows, implement fault-tolerant processing, and mentor peers.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend or full-stack engineering in payments/fintech.
• Experience with payment processors and gateway integrations.
• Experience with distributed architectures and messaging systems.
• Demonstrated use of Claude or similar LLM to boost productivity.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services in Go for payment processing.
• Own money-movement flows: authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, reconciliation.
• Ensure PCI DSS scope and secure handling of payment data.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices across the team.
