Placements24 is seeking a senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a fully remote engineering team. The ideal candidate thrives in a virtual environment and has a proven track record designing complex mechanical systems from concept to production.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across different locations and manage multiple projects autonomously. This remote-first role emphasizes proactive communication and robust design practices.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor).
• Familiar with CAE tools (ANSYS, COMSOL).
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes.
• Experience working in a remote, distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptualization, design, and development of mechanical components using CAD.
• Perform stress, thermal, and vibration analyses with CAE tools.
• Collaborate with virtual teams to ensure producible and cost-effective designs.
• Develop and maintain drawings, BOMs, specs, and test procedures.
• Stay current with new materials and technologies for future projects.
• Troubleshoot design issues and guide remote team members.
• Contribute to design process improvements within the remote department.
