Job summary

HSBC Holdings plc is seeking an experienced Manager International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) Risk to provide expert risk stewardship for the IWPB retail credit risk portfolio. The role focuses on independent oversight, governance, and evidence-based challenge to ensure decisions stay within risk appetite.

You will build relationships across LODs, challenge controls, and coordinate risk appetite processes to strengthen risk management and reporting for senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Strong grounding in banking governance and risk and control management (bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience).
• Deep understanding of non-financial risk gained in front line, risk, consultancy or audit roles.
• Experience using enterprise risk management tools and taxonomies such as Helios and Risk and Control Assessments.
• Advanced spoken and written English with the ability to present complex risk topics to senior stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills to synthesise information and provide clear options that support decision-making.
• Proven ability to plan and organise work, influence stakeholders and provide respectful, evidence-based challenge.
• Ability to work independently under pressure within a collaborative team environment.
• Critical thinking and a continuous improvement mindset including willingness to challenge assumptions.
• Strong business understanding of lending products and their correlation with risk strategy.
• Background in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or Business Management (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide risk stewardship for the IWPB retail credit risk portfolio and oversee governance.
• Challenge controls, ensure monitoring is fit for purpose and aligned with appetite.
• Identify root causes, track ownership, and ensure accurate Helios recording.
• Manage top and emerging risks from product/service changes using the 4Qs framework.
• Co-create governance with 1LOD/2LOD stakeholders at Global and Country levels.
• Review 1LOD risk reporting and escalate discrepancies to senior forums.
• Coordinate the Risk Appetite Statement process for IWPB.
• Support risk management framework: risk/control assessments, continuous monitoring, events, and losses.
• Educate and coach 1LOD management on risk controls and compliance.
• Facilitate senior management decisions with clear risk assessments and concise communication.
• Unite 1LOD/2LOD/3LOD to solve problems quickly and escalate when needed.
