Job summary

Instructure, Inc. is seeking a Senior Decision Scientist to drive business outcomes through advanced analytics. You will partner with product, engineering, and marketing to translate questions into structured analytical work, lead end-to-end data science initiatives, and champion AI-driven approaches.

You will design and execute rigorous experiments, build models, and deliver actionable recommendations for executive leadership while mentoring teammates in a fast-paced SaaS/EdTech environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
• 5–7 years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related discipline with a record of delivering high-impact insights.
• Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, causal inference, and experimental design (A/B testing).
• Deep familiarity with AI tooling to improve throughput and analytical quality.
• Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
• Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, modeling, and visualization.
• Experience with modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Fivetran).
• Strong communication and storytelling skills to translate analyses into strategic narratives.

Responsibilities

• Drive business impact through data-driven insights and opportunities for adoption, engagement, and revenue growth.
• Lead experimentation and causal analysis; design rigorous A/B tests and causal studies.
• Influence product and business strategy through analytical frameworks and recommendations.
• Deliver end-to-end analytical solutions from problem framing to deployment and measurement.
• Default to AI-first thinking to elevate throughput and quality across the team.
• Contribute to decision science best practices and standards across the organization.
• Mentor peers and share best practices in methodology and stakeholder engagement.
• Communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.
