Job summary

ON.energy is establishing the standard for large load interconnection with its AI UPS technology and is seeking a Principal Battery Systems Engineer to steer the technical direction of the BESS product line. You will own roadmaps across concurrent cycles, define engineering standards, and represent the product engineering externally to vendors and customers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on engineering in BESS, power electronics, or UPS.
• Led multiple product development cycles end-to-end.
• System-level BESS design and commissioning experience.
• Architecture-level decision authority on previous BESS equipment.
• Fluent in creating and reviewing SLDs, schematics, and layouts.
• Willing to travel 25–30% for FAT/site engagements.

Responsibilities

• Set architecture for the BESS product line and define the technical roadmap.
• Make trade-off calls for cost, performance, and standardization.
• Define engineering standards and review gates; own the product-engineering bar.
• Approve major design changes and act as final technical authority.
• Run multiple product cycles from concept to field deployment.
• Mentor engineers and lead design reviews.
• Represent ON.energy externally to customers and vendors.
