ON.energy is seeking a Principal Battery Systems Engineer to set the technical direction for the BESS product line and own the roadmap across multiple concurrent cycles.

You will architect new products, review complex designs, and represent ON.energy with vendors, customers, and certifying bodies while mentoring the team.

You must have 10+ years in BESS or mission-critical power, with a proven track record of end-to-end development and site deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field; MS preferred.
• 10+ years hands-on engineering in BESS or mission-critical power systems with senior ownership.
• Led multi-cycle product development end-to-end with field operation experience.
• Architecture-level decision authority on BESS designs and trade-offs.
• Deep sizing: fuse coordination, busbar, protection, and thermal sizing for cabinets.
• Fluent in producing/reviewing SLDs, GAs, schematics, and panel layouts; AutoCAD or equivalent.
• Strong vendor relationships from design through production and escalation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; travel 25–30% for FAT, commissioning, reviews.

Responsabilités

• Set architecture and technical direction for the BESS product line.
• Own the engineering standards, design rules, and review gates.
• Approve major design changes; act as final technical authority.
• Run parallel development cycles from concept to field deployment.
• Drive cadence and determine what ships when, managing risk.
• Mentor engineers and lead design reviews and post-mortems.
• Represent product engineering externally with vendors, customers, and certifiers.
• Collaborate with commercial teams on complex pursuits and proposals.
