Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering with ownership of complex data systems.
• Strong Python skills and production services on AWS or comparable cloud.
• Solid NoSQL and relational fundamentals; DynamoDB access-pattern design and SQL schema design.
• Experience with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch as a primary query path.
• Hands-on with schema evolution, large-scale data changes, and safe rollbacks.
• Ability to balance long-term architectural quality with incremental delivery in a live SaaS system.
• Strong independent delivery, clear communication, and comfort owning consequential work in a small team.

Responsibilities

• Design and improve data models, access patterns, schemas, and data contracts for backend services.
• Evaluate data store approaches (NoSQL, search, relational) for performance and complexity.
• Build data evolution tooling: schema changes, backfills, reindexing, reconciliation, validation, rollback.
• Improve correctness, throughput, and observability of high-volume data workflows; multi-region replication and index sync.
• Collaborate with application, infra, and data engineers on data lifecycle, resilience, and production readiness.
• Lead technical investigations, document tradeoffs, and support staged releases.
