Rivian Automotive is seeking a Senior Cost Engineer to join our Cost Engineering team, working remotely from Mexico with up to 25% travel. You will develop cost models for Rivian vehicle components and guide design and procurement decisions to maintain market competitiveness and high-quality products.

Responsibilities include should-cost modeling, BOM creation, VAVE activities, supplier cost analyses, and mentoring the Procurement team.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be permanently based in Mexico and possess valid Mexican work authorization.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Finance.
• Minimum of 3 years of automotive or manufacturing experience at an OEM or Tier 1 Manufacturer.
• Proficiency in navigating CAD models in CATIA or similar software.
• Ability to interpret and understand design and manufacturing drawings.
• Practical knowledge of Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) techniques and a strong understanding of financial principles.
• Capability to independently create a Bill of Materials (BoM) and allocate costs.
• Entrepreneurial, ambitious, independent, detail-oriented, structured thinker, goal-oriented, flexible and resilient.

Responsabilités

• Provide design guidance to achieve function at minimum or target cost.
• Develop should-cost models for vehicle commodities (e.g., casting, forging, machining, stamping, injection molding).
• Use CAD models, parts, and drawings to estimate production costs.
• Compile data to estimate materials, labor, and tooling costs.
• Collaborate with plants and suppliers to ensure economical tooling and processes.
• Support procurement in analyzing supplier cost breakdowns for cost reduction opportunities.
• Mentor procurement team on cost engineering topics.
• Perform teardown analyses to create BOMs when CAD is unavailable.
• Lead value analysis activities to reduce costs through process and design efficiencies.
