Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Lead Cost Engineer to drive the financial health of vehicle programs. Based remotely in Mexico, you will serve as the primary authority for complex components, evaluate strategic cost trade-offs, and influence engineering and purchasing strategies at a systemic level.

You will mentor junior engineers, develop high-level business cases, and communicate the portfolio's financial health to executive leadership while advocating for the team's strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Evaluates complex cost trade-offs and uses financial data to influence sourcing and engineering strategies.
• Experience with electric power conversion, charging systems, and mechatronic systems.
• Act as a primary technical mentor and customize modeling tools.
• Defines how the Cost Engineering team communicates its value.
• Willingness to travel 15–25%.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary authority for assigned commodities and understands cost drivers, processes, and market trends.
• Articulates the overall financial health, risks, and opportunities of a portfolio to a broad audience.
• Deconstructs highly complex assemblies and applies first principles to validate data and influence decisions.
• Influences stakeholders by building a data-driven business case with a compelling narrative.
• Manages a complex workload with limited supervision and prioritizes effectively.
