Publicis Sapient in Mexico City is seeking a Senior Application Support Engineer (Java & SQL) to provide L1/L2 production support for enterprise applications. You will investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and support releases across distributed systems.

The role emphasizes Java-based troubleshooting, SQL data investigations, and collaboration with engineering and business teams to sustain system stability and service levels.

• 6+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications in production environments.
• Strong experience in L2 support, incident management, problem management, and root-cause analysis.
• Hands-on experience supporting Java-based applications and REST services.
• Proficient in SQL, data validation, reconciliation, and performance analysis.
• Experience with REST APIs, enterprise integrations, and data interfaces.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes, ServiceNow, Jira, and SLA-driven support.
• Basic scripting using shell, Bash, SQL automation, or related tooling.

Overview

We're seeking a Senior Application Support Engineer (Java & SQL) to provide L1/L2 production support for a portfolio of business-critical enterprise applications. This role focuses on incident resolution, root-cause analysis, production monitoring, SQL-based investigations, application troubleshooting, integration support, and release validation across complex distributed systems.

The ideal candidate has strong experience supporting Java-based applications in production environments, troubleshooting integrations and data issues, and collaborating with business and engineering teams to maintain system stability and service levels.

Responsibilities

Your Impact

• Monitor application health, batch jobs, integrations, and scheduled processes across enterprise platforms.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents within agreed SLAs.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions for recurring issues.
• Analyze application logs, interfaces, APIs, and database transactions to identify failures and data inconsistencies.
• Execute advanced SQL investigations, data reconciliation, and validation activities.
• Support production releases, deployment validation, smoke testing, and post-release verification.
• Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to restore services and improve operational stability.
• Create and maintain operational runbooks, knowledge articles, and troubleshooting documentation.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience (Must Have)

Candidates should demonstrate most or all of the following:

Application Production Support

• 6+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications in production environments.
• Strong experience in L2 support, incident management, problem management, and root-cause analysis.

Java Support Engineering

• Hands-on experience supporting Java-based applications.
• Experience troubleshooting Java, Spring Framework, REST services, application logs, exceptions, and backend processes.

SQL & Data Investigation

• Strong SQL skills including:
  • Complex query development
  • Data validation
  • Data reconciliation
  • Stored procedures
  • Performance analysis
  • Production data troubleshooting

Integrations & APIs

• Experience supporting REST APIs and enterprise integrations.
• Troubleshooting data synchronization, interface failures, batch processing, and file-based integrations.

Monitoring & Observability

• Hands-on experience with at least one enterprise monitoring platform such as:
  • Splunk
  • Dynatrace
  • AppDynamics
  • New Relic

IT Service Management

• Experience working within ITIL-based support organizations.
• ServiceNow, Jira, incident management, change management, and SLA-driven support processes.

Automation & Scripting

• Basic scripting experience using Shell, Bash, SQL automation, or related operational tooling.

Ramp-Up Skills (Not Required)

Experience with any of the following platforms is considered advantageous but is not required:
