Job summary

Keystone Bookkeepers is seeking a senior, AI-first software engineer to own the internal platform and client-facing tooling. You will design, build, and operate production apps using Claude Code and other AI tools as core to your workflow.

You will work on live systems handling client financial data, taking ownership from design through deployment, monitoring, and maintenance, with North American hours as a reference and collaboration with a Philippines-based engineer. remote work is supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Senior-level experience across the full stack, with a demonstrable track record of shipping and then operating what you shipped.
• Experience developing Node.js/serverless backends. Familiarity with React, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Vercel Serverless Functions, and Supabase/PostgreSQL is highly desirable.
• Solid experience with SQL/PostgreSQL — data modeling, indexing, query performance, and migration authoring.
• Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations, including handling provider API changes and failure modes.
• Experience with Git, testing, CI/CD and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable web applications and backend services.
• Build AI-enabled features and integrate LLM APIs where they add real value.
• Use AI development tools as part of daily engineering workflow to increase productivity and software quality.
• Build and maintain REST APIs, serverless functions, background workers, and ingestion pipelines.
• Own database work end to end: schema design, migrations with rollback paths, and query performance.
