Peek Travel Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to deepen our AI-enabled platform. You will own backend systems, design robust APIs, and collaborate with DevOps to keep services fast, secure, and reliable in production.

This remote-first role values independent problem solving, strong Java fundamentals, and the ability to review AI-generated code. You’ll contribute to an AI-powered engineering culture and help multiple teams move faster.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development with Java and production systems.
• Strong system design, API design, tradeoffs and scalability thinking.
• Proven ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks and root-cause issues.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools.
• Clear communicator who can justify technical choices.

Responsibilities

• Improve platform backend systems, tooling and practices; contribute to feature development.
• Identify automation opportunities and build AI-enabled solutions.
• Build and maintain shared services, libraries and APIs; enable other teams.
• Own security fixes and dependency upgrades across backend systems.
• Diagnose performance bottlenecks and scalability limits.
• Own production services including monitoring, debugging and reliability.
• Contribute to AI-first engineering culture and share patterns.
