Job summary

Cobalto Talent is hiring a Staff Accountant to work 100% remotely from Mexico for US clients. You will own the month-end close, prepare financial statements, and support year-end processes for CPA firms and US-based companies.

Candidates should have 3+ years of accounting experience, strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel, and English at B2+. Experience with QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct or Xero is a plus, as is work with construction or manufacturing costings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and 3+ years of general accounting with month-end close ownership.
• Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP including accruals, revenue recognition and reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and lookups for reconciliation schedules.
• English at least B2+ for reports and calls with the controller.
• Experience with U.S. companies, CPA firms, or outsourced accounting service is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Run the monthly close with journal entries, accruals, prepaids, depreciation and payroll entries.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, AP/AR and balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and variance explanations for the controller.
• Maintain fixed assets, loans and lease schedules.
• Support year-end: prepare audit or tax packages for outside CPA.
• Review Bookkeeper work and fix coding errors; improve close checklists and spreadsheets.
