Cobalto Talent is hiring a Staff Accountant to work 100% remotely from Mexico for US clients. You will own the month-end close, prepare financial statements, and support year-end processes for CPA firms and US-based companies.

Candidates should have 3+ years of accounting experience, strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel, and English at B2+. Experience with QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct or Xero is a plus, as is work with construction or manufacturing costings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and 3+ years of general accounting with month-end close ownership.
• Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP including accruals, revenue recognition and reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and lookups for reconciliation schedules.
• English at least B2+ for reports and calls with the controller.
• Experience with U.S. companies, CPA firms, or outsourced accounting service is a plus.

Responsabilités

Staff Accountant

About the role

We are hiring Staff Accountants to work 100% remotely from Mexico for small and mid-sized companies and CPA firms in the US.

What you will do

• Run the monthly close: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, depreciation and payroll entries.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, AP, AR and balance sheet accounts every month.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and variance explanations for the controller or owner.
• Maintain fixed asset, loan and lease schedules.
• Support year-end: prepare audit or tax packages for the outside CPA.
• Review the bookkeeper's or AP/AR specialist's work and fix coding errors.
• Improve close checklists and spreadsheets so each month gets faster.

What you bring

Must have

• Bachelor's degree in accounting (Contaduría Pública) or finance.
• 3+ years in general accounting with ownership of month-end close.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP concepts: accrual accounting, revenue recognition, balance sheet reconciliations.
