CobaltoTalent is hiring a Staff Accountant to work 100% remotely from Mexico for US-based small and mid-sized companies and CPA firms. You will manage the monthly close, prepare financial statements, and support year-end processes with external CPAs.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of general accounting experience, solid US GAAP knowledge, and strong English plus advanced Excel skills. This is a fully remote role serving US clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting (Contaduría Pública) or finance.
• 3+ years in general accounting with ownership of month-end close.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP concepts: accrual accounting, revenue recognition, balance sheet reconciliations.
• Intermediate-to-advanced English (B2+) for written reports and calls with the controller.

Responsibilities

• Run the monthly close: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, depreciation and payroll entries.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, AP, AR and balance sheet accounts every month.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and variance explanations for the controller or owner.
• Maintain fixed asset, loan and lease schedules.
• Support year-end: prepare audit or tax packages for the outside CPA.
• Review the bookkeeper's or AP/AR specialist's work and fix coding errors.
• Improve close checklists and spreadsheets so each month gets faster.
