Job summary

CobaltoTalent is hiring a Staff Accountant to work 100% remotely from Mexico for US-based small and mid-sized companies and CPA firms. You will handle the monthly close, reconciliations, and financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.

Responsibilities include maintaining asset/loan schedules, supporting year-end processes, and improving close processes. The role requires 3+ years of accounting experience, US GAAP knowledge, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
3+ years in general accounting with month-end close ownership.
U.S. GAAP concepts: accruals, revenue recognition, reconciliations.
Intermediate-to-advanced English (B2+) for reports and calls.
Advanced Excel: pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation schedules.

Responsibilities

Run the monthly close: entries, accruals, prepaids, depreciation and payroll entries.
Reconcile bank, credit card, AP, AR and balance sheet accounts monthly.
Prepare monthly financial statements and variance explanations.
Maintain fixed assets, loans and lease schedules.
Support year-end: audit or tax package preparation.
Review others' work and fix coding errors.
Improve close checklists and spreadsheets for faster months.
