Schneider Electric in Mexico (Tijuana) offers a Manufacturing Engineering internship to support planning, layout optimization, and productivity initiatives on real projects alongside engineers and operators. You will conduct time studies, create documentation, and use AutoCAD plus Excel/PowerPoint to communicate progress, while developing cross‑functional collaboration and problem solving.

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or mechatronics.
  • Intermediate to advanced English communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using AutoCAD for layout development and technical drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, Fusion 360, or similar).
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, ergonomics, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement concepts is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsabilidades

  • Coordinate and track multiple projects to meet milestones and timelines.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and follow-up with cross-functional teams.
  • Support manufacturing improvements including layout modifications and workstation optimization.
  • Conduct time studies, process observations, and basic ergonomic assessments.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, presentations, and reports.
  • Create and update manufacturing layouts using AutoCAD and assist with basic 3D design.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects focusing on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and action plans with stakeholders.
  • Provide engineering support on manufacturing initiatives as needed.

  • Support Manufacturing Engineering initiatives by coordinating and tracking multiple projects to ensure milestones, deliverables, and timelines are achieved.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and follow-up activities while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Support manufacturing improvement activities, including layout modifications, workstation optimization, and productivity initiatives.
  • Conduct time studies, process observations, and basic ergonomic assessments to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, presentations, reports, and performance tracking tools.
  • Create and update manufacturing layouts using AutoCAD and support basic 3D design activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.

  • This position reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
  • The intern will work closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Production Supervisors, Quality Engineers, Maintenance, and Operations teams.
  • The role offers broad visibility across manufacturing operations and opportunities to influence improvement initiatives.
