Sensata Technologies in Baja California, Mexico, is seeking a Process Development Engineer to design and optimize manufacturing processes for assembly, calibration and testing of aerospace sensors and controls.

You will lead cross-functional teams, define equipment specs, drive APQP deliverables, support new product introductions, and implement DFMA improvements to reduce cost and improve quality. Collaboration with design engineering, suppliers and production is essential.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead development/adaptation of production processes for assembly, calibration and testing.
  • Define equipment specifications and coordinate with in-house mechanization or suppliers to ensure meeting specs.
  • Participate in global NPD teams to enable successful product launches.
  • Collaborate on process specifications, quality, and product specs with other departments.
  • Influence product designs for manufacturability and defect reduction.
  • Develop/improve manufacturing and testing processes to meet performance and cost targets.
  • Organize sample lines and process development equipment.
  • Lead Advanced Quality Planning activities.
  • Coordinate requirements, design reviews and qualification of high-volume equipment.
  • Transfer knowledge to site personnel and support improvements to reduce cycle time, defects and costs.
  • Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure capable processes, controls, on-time delivery, and cost targets.
  • Evaluate tooling design, maintenance, processes and controls, cell automation, and QC systems.

Descripción del empleo

The Process Development Engineer is responsible for developing or modifying manufacturing processes to increase product performance, improve manufacturing efficiency and boost profits. This position works closely with design engineers, equipment vendors, program managers, marketing, and quality engineers to support the development of new electromechanical products. They are responsible for providing the overall process design and suggesting measures to improve product design for manufacturability. This includes the development of new equipment and process flows as well as developing cost estimates for labor and capital. They will also provide ongoing sustaining support to production lines at our global make sites. The successful candidate will develop advanced manufacturing solutions, execute APQP deliverables, support AS9100 compliance, implement automation initiatives, and help establish world-class manufacturing capabilities within Sensata's Aerospace & Defense organization.

General Responsibilities
  • Key participant in the development of new production processes and/or adapt existing production processes for assembly, calibration and testing
  • Define specifications for production equipment and interact with mechanization (in house) and/or equipment suppliers to ensure equipment will meet specifications
  • Key participant in global new product development project teams to enable successful launch of new products
  • Collaborate with other departments on process specifications, quality aspects, product specifications and continuity of equipment
  • Influence product designs during new product development phase to ensure economical and defect free manufacture
  • Developing new or improved manufacturing and testing processes that are necessary to achieve the performance and cost requirements of future device applications
  • Organize the arranging of sample lines and process development equipment
  • Key participant in advanced quality planning activities
  • Coordinates all functional requirements, the reviewing of designs and debugging /qualifying new high volume assembly /test equipment or tooling
  • Transferring knowledge to make site personnel
  • Support improvement projects to reduce cycle time, defects and manufacturing costs
  • Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure processes are capable, have sufficient controls in place, can meet out delivery requirements, and meet our cost targets
  • Evaluate technical capabilities including tooling design, build experience, maintenance program, processes and process controls, cell automation- if required, quality control systems, and material knowledge
Experience / Qualifications
  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the process engineering lead on cross-functional NPD teams, partnering with Design Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Program Management.
  • Execute APQP deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), pFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, Process Capability Studies, and PPAP documentation.
  • Support the development, validation, and industrialization of manufacturing processes for new Aerospace & Defense sensor and control products, including position sensors, pressure sensors, cockpit controls, and related technologies.
  • Support manufacturing readiness reviews, process validation activities, pilot builds, qualification testing, and production launch execution.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) improvements to optimize product quality, reliability, and cost.
  • Design, specify, and implement manufacturing equipment, tooling, automation, and test systems to improve quality, productivity, and scalability.
