Sensata is seeking a Process Development Engineer to design and optimize manufacturing processes for aerospace and defense sensors. You will collaborate with design, quality, operations, supply chain, and program management to deliver scalable, cost-effective production processes.
The role emphasizes process engineering leadership, equipment specification, and support for NPD and manufacturing readiness across global sites.
The Process Development Engineer is responsible for developing or modifying manufacturing processes to increase product performance, improve manufacturing efficiency and boost profits. This position works closely with design engineers, equipment vendors, program managers, marketing, and quality engineers to support the development of new electromechanical products. They are responsible for providing the overall process design and suggesting measures to improve product design for manufacturability. This includes the development of new equipment and process flows as well as developing cost estimates for labor and capital. They will also provide ongoing sustaining support to production lines at our global make sites. The successful candidate will develop advanced manufacturing solutions, execute APQP deliverables, support AS9100 compliance, implement automation initiatives, and help establish world-class manufacturing capabilities within Sensata's Aerospace & Defense organization.
Serve as the process engineering lead on cross-functional NPD teams, partnering with Design Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Program Management.
Execute APQP deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), pFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, Process Capability Studies, and PPAP documentation.
Support the development, validation, and industrialization of manufacturing processes for new Aerospace & Defense sensor and control products, including position sensors, pressure sensors, cockpit controls, and related technologies.
Support manufacturing readiness reviews, process validation activities, pilot builds, qualification testing, and production launch execution.
Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) improvements to optimize product quality, reliability, and cost.
Design, specify, and implement manufacturing equipment, tooling, automation, and test systems to improve quality, productivity, and scalability.
