Job summary

Zendesk is seeking a skilled backend/platform engineer in Mexico City to design, build, and operate scalable enterprise services and AI-enabled platform components. You will drive production readiness, reusable patterns, and secure integrations for global product teams.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional partners across time zones, improve observability, and own CI/CD across the platform while aligning with security and architecture guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years building and operating backend services or platform software in enterprise or SaaS environments.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or TypeScript/Node; API design and reliable integrations.
• Hands-on cloud experience, preferably GCP (GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, IAM) or comparable AWS/Azure.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, modern CI/CD, automated testing, and production operations.
• Experience securing APIs and services with authentication, authorization, secrets management, and logging.
• Architectural judgment to balance maintainability with rapid delivery.
• Ability to collaborate with product/business partners across time zones.
• Experience with internal developer platforms like App Foundry/Backstage or similar.
• AI integration patterns (MCP, gateways, plugins) and production readiness.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services, APIs, data stores, and cloud infrastructure for the platform.
• Create reusable integration and deployment patterns, including authenticated APIs and connectors.
• Help teams move from prototypes to production-ready systems.
• Review architecture, data choices, access boundaries, dependencies, and operational readiness.
• Build and maintain shared paths for reusable AI assets (skills, plugins, connectors).
• Own CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated validation, and release practices.
• Improve observability, alerting, runbooks, incident response, and durable fixes.
• Collaborate with Security, Identity, Enterprise Architecture on least-privilege access and audit logging.
