Job description

Who We Are

At the company, you'll enjoy a welcoming and casual environment, great benefits, wellness program offerings, company retreats, and the ability to interact with and learn from leaders in the startup community. We work hard and care about our most prized asset - our people.

We're helping businesses get off the ground by enabling them to focus on running their business. We solve HR issues. We're data-driven and never stop iterating. If you'd like to work in a supportive, entrepreneurial environment, are interested in building something meaningful and having fun while doing it, we'd love to hear from you.

We're united by shared goals and shared motivations at the company. These are best summed up in our company values, which are reflected in our product and in our team.

Our Values

If this sounds like you, you'll fit right in.

Who You Are

As a Payroll Operations Specialist - APAC on the International team, you are responsible for the day-to-day heavy lifting that keeps our operations running smoothly across the Asia-Pacific region. You act as a vital bridge between the company, our customers, and our external regional payroll providers, ensuring that all payroll matters—ranging from variables, net pay disbursements, to complex regional reconciliations—are handled with precision.

You excel in a highly collaborative yet supportive role where you can own specific workflows and maintain compliance across multiple expanding jurisdictions. You are a proactive communicator who enjoys managing vendor relationships to resolve discrepancies quickly. You are comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment but know exactly when to elevate complex compliance or structural issues. Your goal is to ensure that behind-the-scenes operations are so seamless they are completely invisible to the end user.

Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work On
  • Execute day-to-day operations and administrative tasks for the company' payroll system across the APAC region, including processing customer payroll, data entry, reviewing payroll registers from local vendors, and processing corrections.
  • Coordinate and manage local payroll vendors across various APAC countries to ensure timely processing of remittances and compliance with country-specific employment regulations, tax laws, and local practices.
  • Own and oversee the employee enrollment process from start to finish; ensure that all local employment agreements are accurate, complete, and distributed on time, and that local registration processes are completed on schedule.
  • Monitor payroll disbursements, triage incoming payroll-related tickets, and resolve routine issues regarding pay stubs and localized tax forms efficiently.
  • Conduct thorough monthly reconciliation processes in collaboration with the payroll, benefits, and finance teams to match payroll outputs with internal financial records and identify variances.
  • Maintain and update internal payroll operations resources, country playbooks, and procedural documentation to reflect evolving regional workflows and compliance standards.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks or areas of inefficiency in payroll execution, suggesting simple process improvements or automation tweaks to drive platform scalability.
  • Perform administrative compliance audits on employee dataset inputs to ensure alignment with local statutory requirements across different APAC jurisdictions.
How You Will Do Your Work

Your success is anchored in the following competencies:

  • Detail-oriented - You have a measure twice, cut once mentality; you exercise extreme attention to detail to catch errors before they impact an international worker's payout.
  • Adaptability - You can easily shift focus across different global rules and navigate the fast-moving compliance and banking regulations inherent to an expanding region.
  • Good Judgment - You exercise strong critical thinking, understand when a payroll discrepancy carries a compliance risk, and prioritize resolutions based on operational risk.
  • Clear Communication - You translate complex regional banking rails, tax jargon, and product errors into simple, empathetic, and actionable answers for our customers and employees.
  • Systems Thinking - You look at global payroll, money movement, and product infrastructure holistically, evaluating how upstream inputs impact downstream financial execution.

In addition, all Justworkers focus on aligning their behaviors to our core values known as COGIS. It stands for:

  • Camaraderie - Day to day you can be seen working together toward a higher purpose. You like to have fun. You're an active listener, treat people respectfully, and have a strong desire to know and help others.
  • Openness - Your default is to be open. You're willing to share information, understand other perspectives, and consider new possibilities. You're curious, ask open questions, and are receptive to thoughts and feedback from others.
  • Grit - You demonstrate grit by having the courage to commit and persevere. You're committed, earnest, and dive in to get the job done well with a positive attitude.
  • Integrity - Simply put, do what you say and say what you'll do. You're honest and forthright, have a strong moral compass, and strive to match your words with your actions while leading by example.
  • Simplicity - Be like Einstein: Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in a finance, HR, global payments, or payroll-related role; a bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and high comfort analyzing large datasets to detect anomalies or reconcile numbers.
  • Familiarity with business process management activities, such as process mapping, improvement, and implementing system enhancements/automation tweaks.
  • Strong aptitude for technology, with the ability to quickly master proprietary operational backends, vendor portals, and verification platforms.
  • Resourceful and curious; you are a self-starter who enjoys figuring things out independently and building your expertise in international payroll.
  • Experience or familiarity with APAC regional payroll regulations and statutory compliance setups is considered a strong asset.

The base salary range for this position, based in our Mexico City office, is MXN 55,000-67,000 per month.
