Vertiv Co is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer in Monterrey, Nuevo León, to support lead engineers in creating 3D parts, assembly models, and documentation for water chiller products. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of mechanical design experience, particularly in HVAC or refrigeration, and must be proficient in PTC Creo.

This position requires strong collaboration skills, as you will work closely with electrical and thermal engineers. Safety equipment may be mandated when assisting factory operations.

Formación

• 5+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in HVAC or refrigeration.
• Experience with PLM systems for BOM management and change order release.
• Knowledge of HVAC/R systems and components.

Position summary

The Mechanical Design Engineer will support lead engineers with the creation of 3D parts, assembly CAD models, 2D drawings, and 3D Model Based Definitions, Bill of Materials (BOM), and PLM/PDM data. They will perform tasks with minimal supervision and coaching, supporting NPDI projects to develop reliable and accurate designs for water chiller products.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design of chiller products developing structural sheet metal parts and HVAC piping, including refrigerant and hydraulic components.
• Create and maintain 3D assembly models in Creo.
• Develop 3D parts and create required documentation: 2D drawings or 3D Model Based Definitions (PVZ’s).
• Prepare and maintain BOM.
• Collaborate with electrical and thermal engineers to develop new solutions for chiller water systems.
• Select materials and hardware and maintain communication with suppliers.
• Under mentoring, develop skillsets focused on thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering knowledge:
  • Sheet metal design.
  • Mechanical assembly.
  • Welding / Brazing.
  • Piping.
• +5 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in HVAC or refrigeration.
• CAD – Medium to Expert level; PTC Creo is preferred.
• Experience with PLM systems (BOM management and change order release) and use of PDM systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC/R systems and components.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Physical & Environmental Demands

• When required to support factory operations, safety equipment (boots, gloves, sleeves, helmet, and safety glasses) must be worn.
• No other physical or environmental demands.

Time Travel Required

10% – could be local, regional, or global.
