Vertiv in Monterrey seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support new product development. This hands-on role involves creating and modifying designs using CAD tools like Creo and Solid Edge while collaborating with various teams.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, solid troubleshooting skills, and experience with mechanical CAD tools. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to multitask within cross-functional teams.

Overview

Mechanical Engineer supports new product development for the company’s Thermal global products. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the physical design and/or thermal system design of new products. This engineer must be a practical hands-on type of engineer who can start with an abstract concept and see it through to product launch.

Responsibilities

• Creates/modifies mechanical Parts/Assemblies/drawings in CAD systems, such as Creo and/or Solid Edge.
• Create and maintain Bill of Materials and unit configurator logic to select the correct BOM’s based on options selected by the customer.
• Works with Marketing, Manufacturing, Service and Quality to understand their requirements to design a product that best meets all of their needs.
• Assist with prototype builds by providing technical support and providing guidance when issues arise.
• Gather feedback from prototype builds and field trials and implement appropriate improvements to the product.
• Understands the products, suggest ideas and improvements.
• Assists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues.
• Coordinate performance testing in the lab.
• Analyze test data, diagnose issues and determine changes to improve performance.
• Thermal system modeling to determine performance and correct part selection.
• Determine controls routines needed to make system operate optimally and to meet customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Basic working knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, products and safety.
• Basic mechanical CAD tools experience - Solid Edge, Creo, Solid Works.
• Experience with Sheetmetal, piping and assemblies is a plus.
• Data-entry systems familiarity - Oracle, Agile, etc.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and methodically.
• Detail oriented.
• Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional global development teams.

Physical & Environmental Demands

• Must be able to work in the lab or production facility to diagnose and solve problems.

Time Travel Required: Regular local travel between Office/Lab/production facilities and minimal travel.
