Vertiv is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer located in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. This role involves developing new products and solving complex problems in high-density and liquid cooling applications for data centers.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in engineering and extensive mechanical design experience. Responsibilities include creating CAD designs, maintaining BOMs, collaborating with teams, and troubleshooting field issues.

• Familiarity with sheet metal, piping, and assemblies is a plus.

• Maintain Bill of Materials and unit configurator logic.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Service, and Quality for product design.
• Provide technical support during prototype builds.
• Implement improvements based on feedback from prototypes.
• Assist with troubleshooting of escalated field issues.

The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will contribute to the development of new products; work in a cross‑functional environment with electrical controls, thermal, and other development groups; manage a variety of tasks and activities in this dynamic environment; and solve complex problems related to high‑density and liquid cooling applications for data centers.

Responsibilities

• Creates/modifies mechanical parts/assemblies/drawings in CAD systems, such as Creo and/or Solid Edge.
• Create and maintain Bill of Materials and unit configurator logic to select the correct BOMs based on options selected by the customer.
• Works with Manufacturing, Service and Quality to understand their requirements to design a product that best meets all their needs.
• Assist with prototype builds by providing technical support and guidance when issues arise.
• Gather feedback from prototype builds and field trials and implement appropriate improvements to the product.
• Understanding the products, suggest ideas and improvements.
• Assists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or product development with extensive experience.
• 8+ years of mechanical design & analysis experience in a similar role.
• Fluency in English required (read, write, and speak).
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, products, and safety.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferred CREO 10.0 and greater.
• Experience with sheetmetal, piping and assemblies is a plus.
• Create and revise drawings and bills of materials.
• Change order management and data‑entry systems familiarity—Oracle, Agile, etc.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and methodically.
• Detail oriented.
• Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to operate in cross‑functional global development teams.
