Flex in Guadalajara, Mexico, is seeking a Materials Manager to oversee material planning, inventory control and distribution to support manufacturing operations. The role reports to the Director, Materials, and leads a team to optimize material flow and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities include coordinating site planning activities, ensuring timely material delivery, and reducing excess/obsolete inventory while maintaining quality and customer satisfaction. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in materials, planning, supply chain, or manufacturing environments.
• Experience managing materials-related financial goals, including inventory accuracy, cost control, and reduction of excess and obsolete materials.
• BA/BS/MBA in a related field or equivalent experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the planning activities across the site.
• Direct distribution of inventory to the production line and supervise staff.
• Manage pursuit of materials profit and loss goals, minimizing excess/obsolete inventory.
• Ensure timely delivery of materials at the lowest economical cost while maintaining quality.
• Negotiate with customers and coordinate with purchasing, project management, operations, and warehouse teams.
• Maintain accurate inventory cycle counts and proper shipping/documentation of finished goods.

We’re looking to add a Materials Manager located in Guadalajara, South. Reporting to the Director, Materials, the Materials Manager role will be responsible for direct and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in some or all of the following areas: material planning, distribution, inventory control, material research, purchasing and supply chain management by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

What a typical day looks like:

• Coordinate the planning activities across the site.
• Manages, controls, and directs the activities and staff involved in the distribution of inventory to the production line.
• Manages, controls, and directs staff to achieve Materials profit and loss goals including minimization of excess and obsolete inventory.
• Ensures the timely delivery of materials at the most economical cost, consistent with quality standards, affecting quality by assuring that suspicious material is identified, and that material is handled, stored, and delivered properly.
• Ensures a high degree of customer satisfaction through negotiations of customer expectations and managing and directing staff activities required to meet this expectation.
• Coordinates with customers, purchasing, project managers, operations managers, and warehouse managers.
• Manages controls and directs the actions for excess and obsoletes.
• In charge of accurate inventory cycle counts, and controls.
• Provides for the proper shipping and documentation of finished goods.
• Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures and material control systems.
• Reviews, plans, and approves purchase orders and change notices.
• Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
• In charge of disposition of excess and obsolete materials.
• Travel as required.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• BA/BS/MBA in a related field or equivalent experience and training.
• 8+ years of experience in materials, planning, supply chain, or manufacturing environments, including people management responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of production planning, inventory control, material flow, and distribution to support manufacturing operations.
• Experience managing materials-related financial goals, including inventory accuracy, cost control, and reduction of excess and obsolete materials.
• Ability to lead teams, coordinate cross-functional priorities, and work closely with customers, purchasing, project management, operations, and warehouse teams.
• Solid understanding of quality standards, material handling, storage, delivery practices, cycle counts, and finished goods documentation.
• Strong communication, negotiation, planning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage customer expectations and drive results.
• Willingness to travel as required.
