Continental Group Sector ContiTech is seeking a Material Developer (m/f/diverse) to advance rubber compounds for industrial hoses and expansion joints. You will lead R&D projects, optimize materials, and work with plants, labs and QA teams to drive cost efficiency and sustainable solutions.

The role requires a Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering / Materials Science, strong rubber/ plastics background, English proficiency, and willingness to travel up to 10%.

Formación

• Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering / Material Science, preferably with polymer or rubber chemistry
• Several years of work experience in rubber and plastics desirable
• Outstanding chemical understanding, including structure–property relationships and test planning
• Basic knowledge of rubber materials, compounding and related processing
• Analytical and scientific workstyle
• Self-driven team player with ownership and ability to work independently
• Pro-active and structured problem-solving mindset
• Good international and intercultural communication skills including global collaboration
• Fluent English (oral and written)
• Willingness to travel (up to 10%)

Responsabilidades

• Develop and optimize rubber compounds with a focus on industrial hoses and expansion joints
• Lead compound development projects and participate in other R&D initiatives
• Drive activities to reduce compound and raw material costs and complexity
• Advance new material technologies with emphasis on performance, processability, cost efficiency and sustainability
• Support industrialization of new compounds in cross‑functional collaboration
• Assist troubleshootings related to material topics with plants, quality and business functions
• Develop processes and software tools including AI-based applications
• Maintain interfaces with internal customers, labs, product development, plants and business functions

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize rubber compounds with the focus on industrial hoses and expansion joints
• Lead compound development projects and participate in other R&D projects
• Drive activities to reduce our compound and raw material cost as well as complexity
• Drive the ideation and development of new innovative material technologies, with focus on performance, processability, cost efficiency and sustainability
• Support the industrialization of new compounds in close collaboration with other departments
• Support troubleshootings related to material topics in close collaboration with plants, quality and business functions
• Support the creation and implementation of new processes and software applications incl. AI-based tools
• Maintainthe interfaces with internal customers, labs, product development, plants and business functions

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering / Material Science or similar fields of study, preferentially with focus on polymer or rubber chemistry
• Several years of work experience in the rubber and plastics industry desirable
• Outstanding chemical understanding, such as structure–property relationships, designing test plans etc.
• Basic knowledge of rubber materials, compounding and related processing
• Analytical and scientific workstyle
• Self-driven team player with a high degree of ownership and capability to work independently
