Continental Industry in Mexico seeks a senior R&D chemist to develop and optimize rubber compounds for industrial hoses and expansion joints, leading related projects and collaborating across labs and plants.

The role emphasizes cost reduction, process development, and new material technologies with a focus on performance, sustainability, and AI-enabled tooling. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Formación

• Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering / Material Science or similar, preferably with focus on polymer or rubber chemistry.
• Several years of work experience in the rubber and plastics industry desirable.
• Strong understanding of structure–property relationships and test planning.
• Basic knowledge of rubber materials, compounding and related processing.
• Analytical and scientific workstyle.
• Self-driven, capable of working independently and with ownership.
• Pro‑active and structured problem‑solving mindset.
• Project management experience.
• Good international and intercultural communication skills; able to work in a global environment.
• Fluent English (oral and written).
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and optimize rubber compounds with focus on industrial hoses and expansion joints.
• Lead compound development projects and participate in other R&D projects.
• Drive activities to reduce compound and raw material cost and complexity.
• Drive ideation and development of new material technologies with focus on performance, processability, cost efficiency and sustainability.
• Support industrialization of new compounds in close collaboration with other departments.
• Support troubleshooting related to material topics with plants, quality and business functions.
• Support creation and implementation of new processes and software applications including AI-based tools.
• Maintain interfaces with internal customers, labs, product development, plants and business functions.
