Continental Industry in Mexico seeks a senior Rubber Materials Scientist to develop and optimize rubber compounds for power transmission belts and conveyor belts. You will lead compound development projects and collaborate across R&D, production, and quality teams to drive performance and cost efficiency.

The role includes identifying new material technologies, supporting industrialization of new compounds, and contributing to AI-enabled tooling and processes. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Formación

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science (PhD preferred).
• Several years of experience in rubber and plastics industry desirable.
• Strong understanding of structure–property relationships and designing test plans.
• Basic knowledge of rubber materials, compounding and processing.
• Analytical and scientific mindset.
• Self-driven, team player with ownership and ability to work independently.
• Proactive and structured problem-solving mindset; project management experience.
• Good international and intercultural communication skills; fluent English.
• Willingness to travel (up to 10%).

Responsabilidades

• Develop and optimize rubber compounds for power transmission belts and conveyor belts.
• Lead compound development projects and participate in other R&D projects.
• Drive activities to reduce compound and raw material cost and complexity.
• Drive ideation and development of new material technologies focusing on performance, processability, cost efficiency and sustainability.
• Support industrialization of new compounds with other departments.
• Assist troubleshootings related to material topics with plants, quality and business functions.
• Support creation and implementation of new processes and software applications including AI-based tools.
• Maintain interfaces with internal customers, labs, product development, plants and business functions.
