Ford México is seeking a Quality Engineer for the Incoming Quality area at our Hermosillo assembly plant. You will monitor supplier quality performance, use statistics and Six Sigma to drive improvements, and ensure zero-defect parts with a positive impact on plant and customers.

You will lead cross-functional teams, present analyses in English and Spanish, and collaborate with Design to accelerate changes that improve supplier products.

Formación

Job Description

We are looking for a Quality Engineer for the Incoming Quality area at our Ford vehicle assembly plant. The selected candidate will be responsible for monitoring the quality performance of parts suppliers, using statistical tools and problem-solving methodologies to drive continuous improvement, with the goal of ensuring zero-defect parts and a positive impact on both the plant and the end customer.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Track and coordinate the quality of parts delivered by suppliers.
• Apply problem-solving and statistical tools (Six Sigma) to identify root causes and drive continuous improvement plans with suppliers.
• Prioritize suppliers based on the risk/impact of their defects, defining which ones require more robust action plans.
• Serve as a key link in negotiations with the Design area to accelerate engineering changes that help suppliers improve their products.
• Support decisions and negotiations with data, generating forecasts of finished product behavior by correlating critical characteristics, anticipating defects before they occur.
• Lead cross-functional teams focused on resolving quality issues.
• Present results, analyses, and action plans in both Spanish and English to different levels of the organization.
• Contribute to continuous supplier improvement, always aligned to positively impact the customer (plant or end customer).

Qualifications

Must Have Skills

• Knowledge of applied statistics, including Six Sigma methodology.
• Proficiency in problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, A3, etc.).
• Prior manufacturing experience.
• Leadership and team coordination skills.
• Strong presentation skills in both Spanish and English.
• Data analysis capability for decision-making.

Highly Desirable Skills

• Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
• Prior experience working with automotive suppliers or Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE).
• Knowledge of forecasting/statistical modeling tools or correlation of critical characteristics with product performance.
• Experience managing quality campaigns (recalls) and inventories.
• Knowledge of automotive product design and engineering processes.
• Negotiation skills.

Education Preference

Engineering degree (Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field).
