Caterpillar Inc. in Mexico is seeking a senior manufacturing operations professional to optimize plant processes, manage capacity, and lead cross-functional teams. You will coordinate equipment, materials, and technology implementations to meet demand and support product launches.

The role requires extensive manufacturing experience, strong leadership, and project management basics, with fluent English and substantial supplier coordination knowledge.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 90 % English level, written and oral communication
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in appropriate equivalent experience
  • Requires analytical ability as well as excellent oral and written communications skills and thorough knowledge concerning the capabilities of both domestic and foreign suppliers
  • Manufacturing experience and supervisor experience
  • Knowledgeable in Project Management basics
  • Negotiation with Customers and prioritization skills

  • Overseeing programs and practices for hiring, performance management and developing/training the personnel that perform and support the plant operating functions.
  • Leading assembly, manufacturing processing, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, gaging and checking equipment, tooling and work standards.
  • Coordinating release dates and availability of machines, equipment and material schedules to satisfy demand.
  • Ensuring implementation of modern technology and verifies the effectiveness of equipment and systems.

Job Description

Works closely with operations and product managers for automated manufacturing systems, manufacturing processes and product engineering to ensure common goals in support of product group objectives. Develop and execute a comprehensive facility salvage strategy by identifying and prioritizing opportunities to leverage core and new parts, maximizing variable margins while supporting operational efficiency, inventory optimization, and new product launch requirements.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Overseeing programs and practices for hiring, performance management and developing/training the personnel that perform and support the plant operating functions.
  • Leading assembly, manufacturing processing, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, gaging and checking equipment, tooling and work standards.
  • Coordinating release dates and availability of machines, equipment and material schedules to satisfy demand.
  • Ensuring implementation of modern technology and verifies the effectiveness of equipment and systems.

  • Capacity Planning & Management - MFG: Knowledge of tools, approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service. Level Working Knowledge: Documents major considerations of product promotions and analyzes their effect on production and required capacity. Provides management reports on actual and projected capacity requirements. Uses available tools to interpret forecasts and work out required capacity. Participates in developing short-term capacity requirements for a specific product or plant. Collects and collates key elements of demand chain used in developing capacity requirements.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Level Working Knowledge: Applies an assigned technique for critical thinking in a decision-making process. Identifies, obtains, and organizes relevant data and ideas. Participates in documenting data, ideas, players, stakeholders, and processes. Recognizes, clarifies, and prioritizes concerns. Assists in assessing risks, benefits and consideration of alternatives.
  • Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process. Level Extensive Knowledge: Advises others using industry experience and benchmarks for methodology effectiveness. Develops best practices documentation for all major activities and tasks. Trains others on all major tasks and considerations for the full manufacturing process. Participates in measuring and monitoring new processes and technologies. Selects and optimizes specific methodologies for specific products. Evaluates benefits, drawbacks and appropriateness of alternative processes and technologies.
  • Performance Management: Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance. Level Working Knowledge: Identifies opportunities to enhance performance, e.g., practice assignments, training, shadowing. Ensures performance goals, checkpoints, and feedback focus on behaviors. Provides documented input to formal performance review conducted by manager. Observes individual performance and provides fair and objective feedback. Uses formal and informal rewards and recognition programs for employees.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Level Extensive Knowledge: Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort. Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts. Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate. Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes. Analyzes and synthesizes information and devises alternative resolution strategies. Develops successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems.
