Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Business Systems Specialist to lead Lean transformation across manufacturing operations. You will facilitate Kaizen events, conduct value stream mapping, drive structured problem solving, and guide moonshine prototyping to implement improvements effectively and sustainably.

You will partner with operations, engineering, and leadership to embed Lean principles into daily management systems, ensuring ergonomics and safety in all prototypes and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
• 3–7 years of Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or industrial engineering experience.
• Expertise in Lean tools: VSM, Kaizen facilitation, SMED, 5S, standard work, takt time, flow, pull systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using A3 or similar methodologies.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority.

Responsibilities

• Lead Lean transformation activities and structured improvement processes.
• Facilitate Kaizen events and value stream mapping.
• Drive problem solving using A3, PDCA, root cause analysis, and Lean methodologies.
• Embed Lean principles into daily management systems with operations, engineering, and leadership.
• Provide technical guidance for prototypes and ensure Lean design intent, ergonomics, and safety.
• Support 3P activities including concept development, layout optimization, and process simulation.
• Develop and maintain Lean standards, visual management systems, and performance metrics.
• Coach and mentor employees to build Lean capability.
• Analyze operational data to identify opportunities and track results.
• Support capital projects and new product/process introductions with Lean principles.
