Position: IT Manager
The IT Manager is responsible for leading the strategy, operation, and continuous improvement of information systems across four manufacturing plants in Mexico. This role ensures the high availability, security, and efficiency of the technological infrastructure while aligning digital solutions with business objectives. The manager oversees a multidisciplinary team covering Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Field Services, and Help Desk.
Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field (Master is a plus)
- At least 8 to 10 years of experience as IT Leader, manager or similar.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong oral presentation skills (English and Spanish)
- Automotive Industry experience
- Multi-site experience is preferred
Responsibilities:
1. Corporate Collaboration and Regional Liaison
- Strategic Alignment: Act as the primary liaison between the 4 México plants and the North American (NA) IT headquarters. Ensure regional initiatives align with the Regional Information Strategy MAP and global corporate standards.
- Executive Reporting: Present performance metrics, budget requirements, and project updates to NA Leaders to gain approval for regional strategies.
- Cross-Regional Synergy: Drive "total optimization" by breaking down local silos, utilizing a "virtual IS organization" to implement solutions that benefit the entire organization.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure all IT operations in México.
2. Automotive Manufacturing Systems (AS/400 & ERP)
- Legacy System Oversight: Manage and support AS/400 (IBM i) applications, including RPG-based systems (RPG IV/LE/Free) used for mission-critical manufacturing, inventory, and supply chain management.
- Modernization and Integration: Lead the roadmap for AS/400 modernization, ensuring seamless integration between legacy midrange systems and modern platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, RPA, and cloud-based applications).Production Continuity:
- Ensure high availability of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools on the AS/400 platform to prevent downtime in high-velocity automotive production lines.
3. Team Leadership and Talent Development:
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of 30 professionals across multiple locations in México.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Implement performance management processes and KPIs to track team excellence.
4. Strategic Planning and México Optimization
- Formulate and execute the México IT Strategy Map (medium-term plan) in alignment with Regional IT Governance. and the México Sr Manager.
- Manage IT budgets, negotiate vendor contracts, and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for cost-effectiveness.
5. Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Management
- Oversee the architecture for servers (local and cloud), storage solutions, and network infrastructure.
- Lead initiatives in cybersecurity by implementing robust policies and protocols to protect company data and assets.
6. Information Systems and Application Development
- Supervise the planning, development, and deployment of internal and external software applications.
- Analyze business requirements to develop standardized IT solutions that improve operational effectiveness across the region.
?Knowledge required:
- IBM i (AS/400) Proficiency: Deep understanding of AS/400 environment, including RPG programming logic, CL, and DB2 database management within a manufacturing context.
- EDI and Supply Chain: Familiarity with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standards commonly used in automotive OEM-Supplier communications.
- Shop Floor Technology: supports the integration of OT (Operational Technology) and IT on the production floor.
- Infrastructure Management: Advanced expertise in administering server architecture (local and cloud), storage solutions, and network hardware infrastructure.
- Cybersecurity and Risk Mitigation: Proficiency in implementing security policies, conducting audits, and managing incident response plans to protect technological assets.
- Software Development: Strong knowledge of planning, testing, and deploying internal and external software applications.
- System Monitoring: Advanced capability in utilizing infrastructure monitoring and management tools.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement standardized IT frameworks and strategic IT plans.
Professional Knowledge
- ITIL Principles: Deep understanding of ITIL foundations and best practices for service management.
- Service Platforms: Functional knowledge of ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools for incident resolution and ticket management.
- Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of industry best practices, security standards, and regulatory requirements relevant to the manufacturing sector.
- System Optimization: Expertise in Information Systems processes, procedures, and policies aimed at "total optimization". KPI and SLA Management: Mastery in creating and monitoring measurable performance metrics and Service Level Agreements.
